Foodandholiday goes to Penang (part 1)

Hello all! What are you guys up to this weekend?
No matter what, just sit back and enjoy streaming.. (I mean reading)! Hehhee..

For those who are following or stalking me on IG must have known that I spent my post Christmas and Pre New Year Holidays at Penang, Malaysia. Ah I know I was like doing things halfway. Hahhaa.

On 26th December’15, I was taking evening flight from Medan to Penang. It was a full house plane.
And as usual, I feel like just settling down and starting to close my eyes but immediately the announcement that the plane was about to touch down was heard. =_=

Okay, long story short, I reached Penang with half an hour delayed and off I zoomed to the accommodation I’d chosen, EVERGREEN LAUREL HOTEL located at Persiaran Gurney.
Oh boy was I wrong! I think I was seeing Gurney Drive a million miles away instead of a stone’s throw away!
Okay fine, I’m exaggerating, it’s actually 20 minutes walking distance which was already quite a torture for me. Hahahha.

Honestly telling you guys, I don’t mind walking a lot if there’s something worth to see in the end. And yes! Walking to Gurney Drive wasn’t a problem at all. You know why, LOL.

Below were our late dinner once I reached hotel. Char Kwetiau, Fried Oyster and Kangkong Cuttlefish.
Nothing special, just to feed the growling stomach.


27th December 2015 :
It’s breakfast time! How many of you always skip hotel’s breakfast and wander around the vicinity to search for one? It’s me me me me!
But sometimes, I miss hotel’s breakfast too. Don’t get me wrong. Hehhee.

Bak Kut Teh

This is the Bak Kut Teh I had for 2 days in a row in Penang.
Not only its nearby our hotel, but also everything served on the table was so so good!

Stall’s name is Food Master Bak Kut Teh located at Persiaran Gurney. It apparently originates from Johor Baru.
I’m totally fine with both Klang and Teochew style Bak Kut Teh. So this one is an absolute YES for me.
The pot above was for 2 person’s portion, loaded with excellently tender and succulent pork ribs and bellies.
No matter how garlicky I smell, I like to pour tons of minced raw garlic into the soup and slurp it right away! Hmmm!
That’s the way I enjoy my BKT and not forgetting to dip the dough fritter into it too!
And yes! The yam rice was very fragrant as well. (RM. 50 for this).
And so the stomach was well fed that morning!
